Best Books for Babies & Toddlers (well, some of them.)

“Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary.” – Jim Rohn

Oh boy is this quote ever true! Do you remember the first book that you’ve ever read? Mine was one of those 3 letter words book in my Primary school in Portland, Jamaica. I have always loved reading, and made sure that books and access to stories are a continuous and daily part of my children’s and students lives.

Briefly, I want to share 3 of the best books for Babies and Toddlers, they are all of my personal faves! You might already have them, but if not, I recommend getting it them—TODAY!

This is one of my favorite age groups because everything is new and exciting to them! In that regard, when selecting books, keep them simple, young children love simple books that allows for an interactive experience. Shared book reading is the best type of reading to do with children of this age, and any age to be honest! It allows children to be engaged in the story, the words on the pages and the illustrations too— what do they tell us about what is going on? How can we tell what’s going to happen next? All of this is accomplished during shared book reading.

  1. Uh Oh! Oh No! by Ann Hodgman is a favorite in my home. This is how my twin girls learned to say “uh oh” and “oh no” it is also a book that is demanded, I mean requested (haha!) by them (A LOT!).

  2. Next up, a classic— Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown. There’s just a sense of calm and peace that you read this book with, perfect for setting the tone that it's time to sleep!

  3. While there’s a billion other books I would recommend (you can schedule a consultation in this regard, :-), the last one I would love to recommend is Baby Animals (Touch and Feel book) by DK, this is an awesome book because little ones love touching and exploring new things, it’s a great introduction to different animals, you could even imitate the sounds too!
